Abstract

Breast milk is considered the excellent food source for newborns through first year of age. One of the most common complaints of nursing mothers is insufficient lactation. Galactogogues are defined as substances that promote lactation in humans.  This systematic review aims to provide an exhaustive summary of current literature about breastfeeding, insufficient lactation and use of galactogogues.
