Abstract

We are increasingly surrounded by, immersed in, and captivated by social media. This is hardly sur- prising, given that we are social creatures who naturally gravitate toward channels that enable us to connect with others. But what does the explosive growth of social media mean to those who study and practice the principles of human- computer interaction, and what does HCI have to contribute to this rap- idly burgeoning collection of human activity streams?
