The experience of applying landscape-ecological methods for the evaluation of the biotic regulation of the carbon cycle and its sustainability by forest ecosystems is presented. Methods for construction analytic and cartographic empirical-statistical models that allow revealing the zonal-regional types of forest ecosystems capable of stabilizing the continental biosphere under changing climate are described. A forecast of changes in the biological cycle and its biotic regulation according to the HadCM3 model (version 2) scenario of forthcoming greenhouse warming is presented.
