Digital content is gradually taking over print. Newspapers are turning digital, and the electronic book (“eBook”) market is the fastest-growing segment of the book industry. In July 2010, announced that sales of eBooks for its eReader, the Kindle, outnumbered sales of hardcover books; six months later, Kindle books outsold paperbacks on These figures do not include the downloading of public domain books, which contributes even more to the shift to digital books.
