Abstract

In this chapter I present some exact solutions of the conservation equations presented in §2 with the objective of familiarizing the reader with some simple solution techniques. Problems where the streamlines are parallel are linear and are thus amenable to solution. However, such flows are also directly relevant to our focus as environmental problems where the domains are much shallower than they are long or wide; flows in estuaries, lakes, rivers and coastal seas.
