This article is the result of the research project "Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a new paradigm for protection", which presents a discussion of this Convention from four perspectives, which we consider the most relevant as a starting point of this international instrument of the United Nations. The first is the study of the legal background of the Convention, the second is the comparison of the Convention with other instruments of Soft Law on disability, and the third section is on a major route for comparison between the Convention and other treaties of the universal human rights system. The last perspective, and perhaps the most important, is the new emphasis on the Convention, addressed obliquely or less considered by other international instruments.
