We apply the convergent close-coupling method to the calculation of electron scattering on the ground state of helium at a projectile energy of 30 eV. At this energy convergence in the differential cross sections for the n=1,2,3 transitions is obtained by the use of 62 coupled target states. The target states are obtained by diagonalizing the target Hamiltonian in a two-electron Laguerre basis, resulting in square integrable negative and positive energy states. The calculated differential cross sections are in excellent quantitative agreement with experiment.
