Abstract

Starting with a bibliographical revision and personal experience it is necessary to demonstrate that flat foot results in the biomechanics ascendancy, causing the alteration of the arches which on many occasions leads to injuries and deformities of the body. When an ostearticular pathology arises in the center of gravity it produces an increase in the amount of energy in the organism, which must work more and in more difficult conditions to be functional. The reason for this writing is to demonstrate the necessity of making a procedure of actions in which the flat is not seen as an isolated situation, but as something global since it is comprised of the kinetic chain of the extremity, in which each phase or complete cycle of a foot depends directly on the other one and automatically conditions to the following. Although it seems that the flat foot is an apparently simple problem, it requires a specialized study and design of measurements dealing with the particular problem of each patient. There are many injuries treated in a local way, which relapse again, because the cause is the result of an unknown source. Numerous therapeutic possibilities have been shown; starting with a simple treatment with exercises, moving on to the necessity of a physiotherapeutic approach, to the use of a plaster for the feet and the last option several surgical procedures.
