Spatial and temporal distribution of anurans in a swamp of Reserva Biológica de Duas Bocas, Southeastern Brazil. This study aimed to investigate space and time partitioning related to reproductive activity of anuran species in a swamp of Reserva Biológica de Duas Bocas, State of Espírito Santo, Southeastern Brasil. We evaluate space use distribution through vertical distribution, obtained by the measurement of height in relation to water, and horizontal distribution, obtained by the recognition of regions and microhabitats used as calling sites at the swamp. To verify temporal distributions, the annual activity period and daily vocalization turn of each species were recorded. Nineteen species, distributed among three families, were recorded at the swamp. Hylidae was the most numerous family, followed by Leptodactylidae and Bufonidae. Statistical analysis detected significant difference in vertical distribution of hylids. Species of three families used different microhabitats at the swamp. Vertical and horizontal distributions of nine species were influenced by environmental variables. The number of species was positively correlated with water depth. The smallest aggregations were observed in cold months and the largest, in hot and rainy months. The number of calling males of thirteen species was influenced by at least one environmental variable. Statistical analysis did not allow detection of significant differences among the onsets of species call activities, but significant differences between call activities peak and end were detected. Despite sharing reproductive resources, species had some level of overlap in all parameters searched and this suggests that spatial and temporal distributions were not determinant as a reproductive isolation mechanism of anuran species at the swamp
