Abstract

39 blackflies species were found, between 2 and 13 per site. A strong relationship between species composition and habitat existed. Nestedness and bimodal distribution was not found. Widespread blackfly species were locally more abundant than those found only at relatively few sites, showing a positive abundance-occupancy relationship.
