Abstract

The unsatisfactory returns situation some 15 years ago for sur- face-laid elements made of simple concrete pavers or tiles slab gave rise to the opportunity to attain a higher market price in particular for styled products. Such additional styling concerns multi-color dyeing by mixtures of colors to give marbling effects and by laying patterns to give arrangements determined by the format, as well as by styling the appearance by grinding the surface, using jets of water, shot-blasting with steel balls, flame scarfing, rumbling. Such styling was however also associated at the time with certain problems in the form of efflorescence and differences in the color. Causes lor, and measures to com- bat these, are given here from the viewpoint of production.
