The energy relations and heat production during plant growth are analysed in terms of respiration, dry weight, and growth. Wastage respiration and its relationship to this analysis are discussed The results of microcalorimetric experiments on wheat seedlings are analysed and interpreted. © 1971 Oxford University Press.
