Abstract

Management education has been subjected to scrutiny and criticism over its lack of relevance to the “real world” of management practice. In response, many institutions have developed and, in some cases, require students to complete an internship as part of their degree requirements. International business is a field of study where internships can be extremely beneficial in helping students understand the complexities of actual management practice. This article describes an innovative internship program in international business that has provided benefits to students, their sponsoring organizations and their academic institution. © 2006, Sage Publications.
