Enthalpies of phase change and heat capacities of some long-chain alcohols. Adiabatic semi-microcalorimeter for studies of polymorphism

Abstract

Enthalpies of melting, enthalpies of transition, melting temperatures, and transition temperatures of very pure samples of 1-tridecanol, 1-tetradecanol, 1-pentadecanol, and 1-hexadecanol were measured by means of an adiabatic semi-microcalorimeter requiring 50 to 150 mg of substance. The heat capacities at constant pressure were measured at temperatures above 273.15 K. The polymorphism was studied and elucidated. © 1974.
