Abstract

It is reported that prevalence of allergic diseases increased in various countries. Allergic diseases are not more likely to cause death, but it could be chronic disease and affects the quality of life. By understanding the risk factors for allergic diseases, the prevention can be prepared. This study aims to determine the prevalence ratios for age, sex, family history and other history of atopy on the incidence of allergic rhinitis in the outpatient clinic of ENT RSUDZA Banda Aceh. The data was collected on the 97 respondents using accidental sampling method. Results showed that 37 respondents (38.14%) diagnosed allergic rhinitis with the majority of the age group of 20-29 years (65.71%). Of the sexes, males are 0.53 times greater risk for suffering from allergic rhinitis. Respondents who have a history of atopy are 2.87 times more likely to suffer from allergic rhinitis, and respondents who have a family history of allergic rhinitis and/or atopy syndromes are 5.55 times more likely to suffer from allergic rhinitis. There is a significant relationship between all risk factors with the incidence of allergic rhinitis (all p = 0.00, except for age p = 0.02)
