Abstract

Current progress and concepts of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers P1451 draft standards for smart transducer interfacing of sensors and actuators are reviewed. Topics include the Network Capable Application Processor Information Model (P1451.1), Smart Transducer Independent Interface (P1451.2), Distributed Multidrop Systems (P1451.3), and Mixed-mode Communication Protocols (P1451.4).
