Abstract

The preceding chapters have shown the relevance of a study of women to political scientists. They have also shown that many of the traditional ways of studying women can be misleading. Asking questions about women that have not usually been asked (and indeed asking questions of women) can lead to an examination of issues that are central to political science. The study of women may therefore be one of the more fruitful ways of developing the discipline. Scholars have for long studied women from certain perspectives, however. The developments that are now proving most fruitful are those developed by feminist scholars during the last decade.
