Abstract

Summary of Findings: • Over the past two decades, the production and international trade of farmed amphibians for human consumption has developed into a globalized trade. • Data from the USA suggest that the trade in amphibians for human consumption and pets are the two most important forms of trade in amphibians respectively. • Our study has demonstrated the presence of the emerging pathogen of amphibians, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, and the ranaviral agent FV3 in live amphibians directly imported from Asia to major US cities
