Abstract

The article discusses alternatives to the globalization of neoliberalism. Problems with neoliberalism are described, noting the prevalence of corporate interests, the success of the few at the expense of the many, and the plundering of natural resources. Alternative systems presented include the efforts of the Latin American Indios to promote sustainability, the global Via Campesina movement which defends farmers' rights, and the growth of local councils that govern with consideration for ecological concerns.
