Abstract

The article focuses on the security procedures employed by the supply chain to prevent losses incurred from cargo theft. According to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. loses US{$}15 billion to US{$}30 billion annually from cargo theft. International logistics security agency FreightWatch Group Ltd. reports that US{$}50 billion worth of merchandise are lost globally because of cargo theft. Supply chain security programs employed by various companies are discussed including IBM and Purdue Pharma LP. INSET: SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY'S ADDED BENEFIT.
