Anthropologically, literary works can be seen as cultural phenomena so that they may be treated as a system of cultural sym- bols. As such, literary works are characterized by in-depth and essen- tial dimensions in the form of cultural values aesthetic, ethical, phi- losophical, and religious or spiritual values. In other words, cultural values may be regarded as the deepest and most essential dimension of literary works. These cultural values then realize or embody them- selves in the form of structure and language. Accordingly, literary works are first and foremost hermeneutic-phenomenological phenom- ena that need understanding, interpretation, and elucidation to make their deepest meaning fully revealed. It is at this point that phenome- nological hermeneutics may serve as an alternative tool of analysis for cultural values as the most essential part of literary works
