Abstract

The framework materials [W72MnII/III12O268X7]52-/40- undergo heteroatom (X)-controlled reversible SC-SC redox reactions whereby the Ge-templated framework reduction is fast and reoxidation is slow. The opposite trend is set for the Si-templated framework, and these processes can be followed optically, spectroscopically and crystallographically. © 2009 American Chemical Society.
