Values are central to both humanistic and transpersonal psychology and are held to pertain to the very nature of being human, A similar orientation prevails in the psychology of religion. In the name of scientific psychology subjective elements such as values were kept out of consideration. Our colleagues in the so called hard sciences pointed the way when they called on scientists to recognize their values issues and take responsibility for their behavior. © 1990 by The Haworth Press, Inc.
