Abstract

A procedure for the grafting of terbium organic complexes onto nanozeolite L material is reported. The organic-inorganic hybrid material was prepared by first functionalizing zeolite L with (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane and then grafting carboxyphenyl isothiocyanate via the reaction of amino group covered on zeolite L surface and isothiocyanate groups. The functionalized zeolite L was at last reacted with terbium (III) ions. The obtained organic-inorganic hybrid materials were detailed investigated by means of FT-IR, luminescence spectroscopy and SEM techniques. The grafting of lanthanide complexes onto nanozeolite L was confirmed by the luminescence spectra and FT-IR spectra. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
