Abstract

The theory of phase transitions in magnetic systems with surfaces is reviewed. Results of the phenomenological Landau-Ginzburg theory as well the scaling theory are briefly presented and compared with those obtained for particular microscopic models. Possibilities of special kinds of magnetic phase transitions in systems with surfaces are also presented. Copyright © 1976 by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
