Abstract

A mathematical model is established to describe the efficiency characteristics of the hydraulic transformer, and the calculation and experimental results proved that the efficiency of the hydraulic transformer can be more than 75% in the range of transformation ratio between 0.5-1.75 and this efficiency value can be higher after optimization. The efficiency of the hydraulic transformer keeps invariant when supply pressure and fluid viscosity varying at the same rate. Both increasing the supply pressure and decreasing the fluid viscosity can extend the high efficiency area but can not conspicuously increase the maximum efficiency value. © 2009 IEEE.
