Abstract

An analytical solution was developed to describe the influence of the transportation rollers on the heat transfer on the underside of flat products in roller hearth kilns. Thus determined heat flow differs only about maximum 15% from the numerically calculated using partial differential equations. The effects of the roller's material, the diameter, the velocity of the product and the gas temperature on the heat transfer can be described relatively simple for each roller. In examples it is shown, like the heat transfer will increases with the heat penetration coefficient of the roller and the velocity of the product. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
