Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) represent a new class of materials that have artificially created receptor structures. Since their discovery in 1972, MIPs have attracted considerable interest from scientists and engineers involved with the development of chromatographic adsorbents, membranes, sensors and enzyme and receptor mimics.
