Abstract

This chapter further explores multiobjective optimization by presenting the Pareto front concept. In order to find this front, the multi-criteria problem is transformed into a single scalar cost function. However, it is known that this scalarization procedure may not yield a good Pareto front in all cases. For this reason, several scalarization methods are presented and compared. To exemplify the concepts, a wastewater treatment plant model is employed in conjunction with a feedback controller.
