The inside of footwear, particularly the toe box, can be a source of evidence and reveal characteristics specific to the person who wore the footwear. Prior to separating the shoe or boot upper from its sole, it is customary to visually examine the inside of the footwear. This paper discusses the nondamaging use of a fiber-optic camera to examine the inside of a shoe in great detail, to take photos, and to create a video record of the examination.
