Abstract

Palladium catalysed allylic alkylation and amination reactions have been demonstrated to proceed readily in the room temperature ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][BF4]) with easy catalyst/solvent recycling and no need to generate separately the carbanion nucleophiles.
