Abstract

Understanding the causes of the substantial (and growing) degree of health and safety that has been achieved in the Western world is important. It cannot be wise to degrade the health and safety already achieved by undermining the mechanisms responsible for it, yet that is exactly what is happening. Toxicologists, who know better, must take their share of the blame. © 1988.
