Abstract

First documented record of Herpsilochmus pectoralis Sclater, 1857 in Paraíba State, Brasil. In this work, an area of Atlantic Forest in the north coast of the Paraíba State was surveyed with the objective of registering Herpsilochmus pectoralis, in the State. The species was encountered in the second day of research, on March 19, 2004, when it was visualized and had its vocalization recorded . Paraíba becomes the fifth State in Brazil with recording of that species. The area is a well-preserved native vegetation reserve, that allows the surviving of H. pectoralis and other species considereds indicators of good enviromental quality.
