This study aims to investigate the level of emotional quotient of language trainee teachers. This study involved 235 language trainee teachers at the University of Syiah Kuala. A questionnaire was used to measure emotional quotient and language achievement. Descriptive statistics of frequency, percentage and mean were used to report the respondents' profile. The descriptive findings show that the emotional intelligence of language trainee teachers in term of self awareness, self regulation, self motivation, empathy, social skills, spritual and maturity are at a high level. The analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between emotional inteligence upon years of the study. However, there is no significant relationship between self motivation, social skills, spritual and maturity upon years of the study.
