Abstract

Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) is a test, mostly used in web applications to verify that the user is human rather than an automated machine. However, with the advances in technology, this security mechanism is being challenged everyday through the use of different Artificial Intelligence (AI) based techniques. Hence, research is still being carried out in this area, to try to design a fool proof method. This paper proposes a new type of CAPTCHA, Character-Collage; a method which exploits the strengths of the unbroken CAPTCHAs as well as the weaknesses of current computer vision technology. © 2011 MIPRO.
