Revitalisasi Wayang Golek Menak Yogyakarta dalam Dimensi Seni Pertunjukan dan Pariwisata

Abstract

This research aims to revive the wayang golek Menak Yogyakarta by revitalizing and creating innovations in the form and structure of the performance. The current development shows that tourism industry can be a primary driver for such revitalization and innovation, when relevant concepts and theories are applied correctly. Revitalization and innovation are complex, that a SWOT analysis is necessary. To prevent tourism industry from devaluing and evacuating the essence of the performance , the design concept should adhere to Wimsa! 's aesthetic diagram. Hence, a performance in tourism se! ing, or a tourist art as J. Maquet called, does not only serve to commercialize it, but also enrich its development in Indonesia.
