Abstract

Multiwall carbon nanotubes have been synthesized by means of catalytical chemical deposition of ethylene by using different catalysts, in order to generate nanotubes with different diameters and structural regularities. The nanotubes were functionalized with the objective of introduce hydroxy groups in its surface. In this work we also synthesized silica nanotubes by sol-gel method, by using dl tartaric acid as template and TEOS as the silica source. The materials have been characterized by TGA, TEM, FTIR, adsorcion-desorption of nitrogen and XRD. The carbon nanotubes synthesized on mesoporous supports present a better structural regularity and lower average diameter that those materials synthesized on CaCO3
