People in resource-poor developing countries often do not have access to quality healthcare services. Time and again, precious lives get compromised and cut short due to lack of timely medical attention. These problems are heightened further in the case of large rural communities. Despite several such problems, the developing world has seen an exponential growth in cellular telephony over the last decade. This phenomenal growth has prompted us to propose an affordable, portable healthcare enabling system for rural communities, using readily available smartphones and wireless bio sensors.
