A new species of gecko in the genus Lepidodactylus, L. browni, is described from Port Moresby, and a key to the members of the genus from the island of New Guinea is presented. Variation in the little-known species L. orientalis is outlined and observations on the ecology of geckoes from the Port Moresby region are discussed.
