Abstract

Steve Martin morphed from wild and crazy guy on 'Saturday Night Live' in the 1970s to respectable actor in films like 'Parenthood' and 'Father of the Bride.' He's 'Bringing Down the House' in a comedy about a man who makes an Internet love connection--with a prison inmate, played by Queen Latifah. Martin will also host the 2003 Academy Awards. He was born August 14, 1945, in Waco, Texas, to a real-estate salesman and a homemaker. When he was 5, his family moved near Disneyland, where he got a job selling guidebooks and magic tricks, eventually performing in an onstage revue.
