Abstract

Reports on the reversibility of methamphetamine brain damage after a period of abstinence. Skepticism regarding the effectiveness of treatments used to treat methamphetamine addiction; Evidence showing that the brain can repair itself if patients can stay away from the highly addictive drug; Significance of understanding of how the human brain can recover as a function of extended drug abstinence on the neurobiology of addiction and substance abuse treatment.
