Abstract

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for epilepsy is a functional therapy that avoids many of the adverse effects associated with antiepileptic drug therapy and resective brain surgery. DBS is a relatively new therapy, and only recently has controlled evidence shown its efficacy. This article concentrates on clinical studies of DBS for epilepsy. © 2009 Elsevier Inc.
