Abstract

This study concerns the evaluation and comparison of the thermal behaviour of a green roof prototype, which was submitted to the climate conditions of São Carlos region, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The field measurements were taken in two phases: winter and summer conditions. Therefore, the prototype of green roof and a bare roof were evaluated for the purpose of obtaining data about their thermal performance. The data were comparatively analyzed according to the roofs building systems as well as their contribution as thermal protectors. From the recorded data, the green roof conserved itself more stable and resistant to the daily thermal fluctuations.
