Abstract

Affordable mobile devices are becoming ubiquitous. As a result, much of the World Wide Web is evolving into a mobile-optimized platform that allows users to gain instant access to information via their mobile devices. All libraries should be ready for this increase in use and plan accordingly. This article highlights three things that libraries can do to get ready for the mobile experience including creating a mobile-optimized Web site, using Quick Response (QR) codes, and implementing Google Voice for a free text messaging reference service. © 2012 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
