Abstract

The article provides information on treating and preventing asthma attacks with nutritional medicine. Asthma is a chronic lung disease characterized by reversible, airway inflammation resulting from edema in the lining of the bronchial tubes, and increased airway responsiveness to a variety of stimuli. The major symptoms associated with asthma are wheezing, coughing, and dyspnea, which are of variable duration and severity. Stool tests can provide useful information regarding causes for nutrient deficiencies contributing to the disease process in asthma. Cordyceps, a herbal medicine, has traditionally been used to improve respiration and in individuals with decreased lung function.
