Abstract

As solar energy is one of the clean and cheapest source of energy made available to us in ample amount by mother nature, developing technology for harvesting this energy to fulfill our energy needs has become essential. In the last decade, Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite materials are found to be promising in harvesting solar light. Present work, gives the first hand report on the bulk synthesis of Methyl ammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) at room temperature by using ultrasound assisted solutions of PbI2 and CH3NH3I precursors in Iso-Propanol (IPA). The synthesized product has been characterized by UV-vis-NIR and FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) which confirms that the product has perovskite type tetragonal crystal structure and rod like morphology.
