Abstract

The lower jaw of an onychodontid sarcopterygian is described from the Pragian Posongchong Formation of Yunnan (China). It differs from all other known onychodontids by its elongated symphysis and smooth tooth enamel. Its overall resemblance to Strunius may be due to shared onychodontid, sarcopterygian, or even osteichthyan characters. This Chinese form is the earliest known onychodontid. There is an abridged English version. -English summary
