Abstract

A low voltage (0.5 V) low power (3.1 mW) on-off keying (OOK) miniaturized (380 um × 220 um) monolithic receiver implemented in 0.18 um CMOS technology for wireless local area sensor network is demonstrated. This chip can receive small radio signal well with a sensitivity of - 50 dBm (-62 dBm) and a maximum data rate of 2 Mbps at 433 MHz (150 MHz). When operated at 0.45 V, this receiver consumes less power (1.36 mW) with the same maximum data rate but a degraded sensitivity (-35 dBm) at 433 MHz. © 2005 IEEE.
