Abstract

This chapter describes the impact of malaria on agricultural development and the effects of agricultural development (i.e., water use and irrigation, deforestation, reclamation of wetlands, crop cover, land use changes for agricultural purposes in the highlands, and increase in urban agriculture) on malaria-carrying mosquitoes and malaria transmission in Africa. Blending effective agricultural, health and development policies is discussed.
