Abstract

Since 1999 the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Association) has run a project on integrative controlling for academic libraries, aiming to create a table of figures on performance evaluation. The table is based on the 'Balanced Scorecard' management instrument, in which a set of perspectives can be integrated into a total evaluation of a library. From this, strategy-oriented controlling is accessible. Balanced Scorecard's structure and the software LIBRARY AUDIT developed during the project are described. (Original abstract - amended)
